If you are looking for a somewhat trendy café along the IJ waterfront, you simply can’t go wrong with Kanis en Meiland 3.0. The location of the café has her history in the shipping industry, just like many other venues in this part of Amsterdam. The menu has a great selection of both Dutch and imported beers and a menu with snacks.
Lovingly called 'The Kanis' by neighbours is a café at the Levantkade in the place where formerly the warehouses of the Royal Dutch Steamboat Company were stationed. It is popular with the quayside and neighbourhood residents of the Eastern port area and people walking by and discovering the café by coincidence. The Kanis combines the cosiness of a brown pub with the appearance of a grand café. The seafront terrace is beautiful and spacious. The look of the wide river combined with the modern city architecture provides a surprisingly beautiful view, which changes colour and atmosphere every hour of the day.
Kanis en Meiland 3.0 is the place to have a nice snack, read the newspaper or book or simply to stare in front of you and reflect on life. The service is casual and friendly. There are five different beers from the tap, complemented by a selection of foreign and domestic beers on the bottle. The choice for lunch is yummy, the coffee organic and fair trade and there is an extensive tea list. If the sun goes down behind central station into the river summer does not seem to end. Life is good here and it can be celebrated!
