Every year in August, the annual Amsterdam Gay Pride will take place in the buzzing Amsterdam neighbourhoods and around the city centre canals.
During this popular festival, sometimes dubbed the 'pink King's Day' by locals, Amsterdam is covered with street parties, the best club circuit parties and of course the famous Canal Parade on Saturday. More than 300 events will be held in Amsterdam, like Pink Saturday at the Vondelpark, Human Rights Concert at Dam Square and of course the Canal Parade.
Gay Pride starts with the annual Pride Walk, a colourful and peaceful demonstration from the Homomonument to Vondelpark. Everyone is invited! From there the Pride Park event starts, a new event for young LGBTQ+ between 12 and 26 years old. After the Pride Park, the not-to-be-missed 'Pink Saturday' celebrations will commence (don't forget to bring your pink outfit)! Throughout the week various events are organized, from open-air cinemas to concerts, beach parties and of course the annual boat parade on the last Saturday of Pride week!
Or, just wander around the canals and neighbourhoods such as the Jordaan where many local bars and cafés open up their doors or even take the party outside to celebrate equality throughout the Netherlands!
Dates: July 25 - August 2, 2020
