Valentine's day may be long gone, but Sant Jordi's day is full on in town! This day, also called 'El Día de los Amantes,' (translated as Lovers Day), is the day to celebrate romance and friendship. Streets will be covered with stalls selling books and roses, and, since it's not a bank holiday, shops, bars and restaurants will be open as usual. Some shops and eateries will offer a special Sant Jordi offering on this day. Traditionally, it is a man's courtesy to buy a rose for their loved ones, and the ladies give a book in return.
Do as the locals do and stroll around the streets of Barcelona on this day. If you hit the main streets of Barcelona (Passeig de Gracia to name one), you will find more than just books and roses: some buildings will even be covered in roses, your chance to take a unique picture of beautiful Barcelona!
