Open Monuments Day (Dutch Heritage Days) provides you with the possibility to visit important historical buildings, local monuments and private homes for free. This unique event takes place in September and it has a different theme every year. This year theme is 'Leisure in the city', for all people who like sports, theatre and other kinds of fun.
During Open Monuments Day, which takes place every second weekend of September, hundreds of historical buildings and sites in Amsterdam are open to the public free of charge. Besides opening their doors, many locations also organize onsite activities like exhibitions, musical performances or free guided tours in different languages. All events and activities are organized by local organisations. Open Monumentendag is one of the Netherlands’ main cultural events.
Open Monumentendag has established itself as an integral part of the Dutch cultural calendar and has helped significantly in rallying support for the preservation of historical monuments in the Netherlands.
Various monuments throughout the city, also near Yays Zoutkeetsgracht, Oostenburgergracht and Bickersgracht, will open ONLY for this day! Don't miss it and unlock the neighbourhood with Yays!
