Every third Tuesday in September, the Dutch celebrate Prinsjesdag, the day on which the reigning monarch of the Netherlands addresses a joint session of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives to give the speech from the throne before the yearly budget is presented. The Prinsjesdag Festival is held every year over the week leading to Prinsjesdag, to celebrate democracy in the country. The programme – arranged around a yearly theme - includes a diverse range of engaging activities for both young and old guests, including debates, music, films, lectures, and more. During this week of inspiring events, you have the opportunity to learn about Dutch democracy and citizenship.
