If there's one word to describe Issy Guinguette it's 'Burgundian'. And unique. Okay, that's two words. Owner Mathieu and his two siblings take good food and joie de vivre very seriously. This Parisian oasis houses a wine store that sells handpicked premium local wines, some of them made in the vineyard behind the store. In the middle of said vineyard is a restaurant that serves the very best local cuisine, paired with exquisite local wines. T: (+33) 1 46 62 04 27
This spot along the Seine has all the ingredients for a good time in Paris, day or night. Weekly changing food trucks, live music, comfy sofas outside and friendly bartenders. La Javelle is where you go for some easygoing fun and a chance to meet locals. It's also summer favourite among the young Parisian crowd. In winter the terrace is closed, but service continues on a boat on the Seine.
Coffee lover Alex travelled the world and ended up back to Issy. In the lovely residential street of Rue Hoche he opened a specialty coffee shop. Most people come in here to try Alex' very own 'Habeo Alas'blend, which you'll recognize by the three windmills on the packaging. Besides the coffee, the tea and chocolate are locally produced too, making Conservatoire du Café the perfect spot to stock up on some genuine Issy products. T: (+33) 1 46 42 65 08
This museum is a whole different ball game. Or should we say card game? It's the only playing cards museum in France. It may sound a bit quirky, but this is one of those places that gets more interesting the deeper you look into its history. The ongoing exhibition takes you on a journey that starts with 200 years of Chinese gaming, via Indian playing cards to European gaming. Musée Français de la Carte à Jouer also houses the Galerie d'Histoire de la Ville. T: (+33) 1 41 23 83 60
Barcelona has Gaudi, Paris had Jean Dubuffet. This painter and sculptor left his artistic mark in the United States and France with his remarkable avantgardist work. Dubuffet's is often mentioned in the same breath as Picasso, Braque and Rouault. You can admire his colourful sculptures on the beautiful isle of Parc de L'Île Saint-Germain. They're impossible to miss.
